Ukrainian Biometric Passport, Schengen Travel, and Consular Services
Ukraine is not a member of the EU or Schengen Area. However, holders of a Ukrainian biometric passport (issued since 2015) can travel visa-free within the Schengen zone for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. For longer stays — including national (D) visas, work visas, or student visas — a 35×45mm ICAO-compliant photo is required at the relevant embassy or consulate. Many Ukrainians currently residing abroad can also access Ukrainian consular services using the same photo format for passport renewal and other document applications.
